Twitch playback account
The server owner can connect a Twitch website session in System → Twitch downloads. ReplayVOD uses it to access streams and VODs as that account, which may make additional recording qualities available. Recordings stay in the shared library.
This connection is separate from signing in to ReplayVOD with Twitch.
Connect a session
Section titled “Connect a session”Use HTTPS for both the dashboard and API. Local connections through localhost, 127.0.0.1, or [::1] can use HTTP.
The session token grants access to your Twitch account. Only enter it on a ReplayVOD server you trust.
- Sign in to twitch.tv, completing two-factor authentication if requested.
- Open your browser’s developer tools with F12. In Chrome, open Application → Cookies → https://www.twitch.tv. In Firefox or Zen, open Storage → Cookies → https://www.twitch.tv.
- Find auth-token and copy its value.
- Open System → Twitch downloads in ReplayVOD. Paste the value, accept the account-use explanation, and select Validate and connect.
ReplayVOD checks the session with Twitch before saving it. If validation fails, any previously connected session stays in place.
Select a recording quality
Section titled “Select a recording quality”Schedules and archives let you set a maximum resolution: Up to 480p, Up to 720p, Up to 1080p, Up to 1440p, or No limit.
ReplayVOD chooses the highest available resolution within your limit. For example, if Twitch offers 1440p and 720p, Up to 1080p records at 720p. No limit allows the highest available resolution.
For a live channel, Download now lists the qualities currently available and records the one you select. Without a connected session, it lists qualities available to anonymous viewers.
Available qualities depend on Twitch, the broadcast, and the connected account. A paid account doesn’t guarantee a particular resolution or an ad-free recording. Some higher resolutions use HEVC; Force H.264 or the server’s disable_hevc setting can limit the available quality.
Connecting an account doesn’t change existing schedules. Edit their quality settings if you want to record at a higher resolution.
Check or disconnect
Section titled “Check or disconnect”Select Check connection to check whether the saved session still works. ReplayVOD also checks it periodically when starting playback requests.
Reconnect required means the session has expired or been revoked. Connect a new session using the steps above. Until then, ReplayVOD uses anonymous access, so some recording qualities may be unavailable.
Temporary connection errors retry automatically. If a recording fails after capturing footage, ReplayVOD saves the captured portion as a failed partial recording. A failure before any footage is captured leaves no playable file.
Select Disconnect to remove the session from ReplayVOD. This doesn’t sign your browser out of Twitch or revoke the session on Twitch. An active recording may continue using its current stream URL until that URL needs renewing.
Server configuration
Section titled “Server configuration”The session is encrypted in the database using SESSION_SECRET. Back up the database and that secret together. If you change the secret, reconnect the playback account.
For a reverse proxy, set PUBLIC_BASE_URL to the public HTTPS address. Redirect HTTP to HTTPS, preserve the public Host header, and keep the backend listener private. ReplayVOD uses the configured public address to recognise HTTPS terminated at the proxy.
The old TWITCH_SERVICE_ACCOUNT_REFRESH_TOKEN setting is no longer supported. Connect the account through the dashboard.
