Archive VODs

Open Recordings → Archive to download videos that are still available on Twitch. Admins and owners can add archives. Viewers can see the queue.

An archive saves an existing broadcast. To record future streams automatically, create a schedule.

Set Recording settings before adding VODs:

Setting What it does
Mode Save video or audio only.
Quality Set the maximum resolution, from Up to 480p to No limit. ReplayVOD uses the highest available resolution within that limit.
Force H.264 Prefer H.264 for video recordings.

The settings apply to both Paste links and Browse a channel. They reset to video at Up to 1080p when you open the page.

Some higher resolutions require a connected Twitch playback account.

  1. Open Recordings → Archive and select Paste links.
  2. Paste one Twitch VOD link or VOD ID per line, up to 50 at a time.
  3. Select Add to queue.

Each line gets a result:

Result Meaning
Queued Added to the download queue.
Already in library The VOD is already saved. Select Open recording to view it.
Not on Twitch Twitch couldn’t find that VOD. It may have expired or been deleted.
Not a VOD link Enter a twitch.tv/videos link or a VOD ID.
Still live The broadcast hasn’t ended. Record it from the channel page, or archive it after it ends.
Private Twitch won’t provide access to this VOD.
Failed The VOD couldn’t be added. Try again.

ReplayVOD skips VODs already queued or in the library, so you can submit the same list again without creating duplicates.

  1. Select Browse a channel.
  2. Enter a channel name or Twitch channel link and select Look up.
  3. Select individual VODs or Select every VOD not yet in the library.
  4. Select Archive selected.

The table lists the videos Twitch still has, including past broadcasts, highlights, and uploads. It shows when each was streamed, its duration, and whether it’s already in your library. Select Load more for older videos.

You can archive videos from channels that nobody on your server follows.

Archives download in queue order, oldest first. They use separate download slots from live recordings, but share the server’s network and storage.

A queued archive shows Waiting for a slot or Waiting for storage. Once it starts, the row shows its progress and estimated time remaining.

Select Cancel to stop a running archive, or Remove to remove one that hasn’t started.

Recent failures lists failures from the last seven days and their reasons. Temporary failures retry automatically; the row shows when the next attempt is due.

Select Retry now to try again, or Cancel retry to stop automatic retries. Not scheduled means no automatic retry is planned. This includes failures that another attempt is unlikely to fix, such as a deleted VOD.

Finished archives appear in Library → Videos with an Archive badge. Set the Type filter to Archives to show only archived videos.

If Twitch hasn’t generated a poster yet, the archive may initially appear without one. ReplayVOD checks again in the background.

These settings are in server/config.toml. See the full reference for other recording options.
